LONDON — Emma Raducanu has cast doubt over her participation at Wimbledon after she was spotted at the All England Club wearing an orthopaedic boot.
On Wednesday at around six in the evening, the British star left Aorangi Park — Wimbledon’s official practice and warm-up area — with a grey immobilisation boot on her right leg.
According to information provided to CLAY at the tournament, Raducanu did not practise today. The 2021 US Open champion is, however, scheduled to train this Thursday at 10 in the morning on Court 10 in the northern section of the complex.
“Emma is absolutely fine. She will play tomorrow,” Thomas Houchin, one of her representatives, told CLAY.
The former world No. 10 achieved her best ever result on grass two weeks ago, when she reached the final of the Queen’s WTA 500. At the Andy Murray Arena she lost to Croatia’s Donna Vekić.
At Wimbledon, Emma Raducanu will need to defend the third round she reached last year, when she fell to world No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka.
