MADRID – On Wednesday, 21 January, at 6:31 p.m. in New York, the multinational Nike registered a logo with the initials CA at the United States Patent and Trademark Office, which points directly to a first and last name: Carlos Alcaraz, number one in the world rankings.

The design is similar to the one the Oregon brand created with Roger Federer, although in the case of CA it is more modern and the graphic line has a style that departs from the straight lines of the Swiss player’s RF.

‘The plan is for him to start playing with this logo in the middle of the season, at Roland Garros,’ sources close to the world number one told CLAY.

Nike has been sponsoring Alcaraz since 2019, when the current six-time Grand Slam champion was still a promising young player. Alcaraz left Lotto to wear the swoosh, the brand that has accompanied him ever since.

His first contract with Nike was due to expire in 2025, but in early 2024 he reached an agreement to renew it with superstar figures.

According to the sports media outlet Relevo in June 2024, the new contract was multi-year and Alcaraz has been receiving between £10 million and £14 million per season since then. In addition, the American firm committed to designing a logo specifically for Alcaraz, something that only two Nike tennis players in history have had, none other than Federer and Rafael Nadal. Alcaraz will also soon have his own line of the brand.

After almost two years of work, it seems that Nike has finally finished designing the logo. Registering the initials CA with the United States Patent and Trademark Office is a prerequisite for the brand to continue working on the design launch plan with confidence.

According to the document posted on the US Patent and Trademark Office website, Nike specifies that the CA logo will be used on all types of sports products. The multinational has paid USD 700 for the trademark.
